Reconnecting

What to do when a brokerage connection expires, is revoked, or stops syncing.

Broker tokens can expire or be revoked. When SnapTrade reports the connection as broken, the row on the Brokerages page shows a red Error badge and syncs pause for that brokerage. A Reconnect Needed badge (orange) is also possible. The Reconnect action appears in the row's menu in either state.

There's also a Disconnected badge that OptionsPro sets automatically when SnapTrade reports the authorization is gone entirely (rather than just temporarily broken). Your trades and positions are preserved either way, but the Reconnect action doesn't appear for a row in this state - use Delete and Link Brokerage to add the connection again from scratch (see Disconnecting).

How do I know I need to reconnect?

  • The brokerage row shows an Error, Reconnect Needed, or Disconnected badge.
  • Last Sync stops advancing for that row.
  • New trades placed at the broker stop showing up in OptionsPro.

Common reasons a connection breaks

  • Scheduled token expiration. Many brokers expire OAuth tokens on a fixed schedule and require you to re-authorize.
  • Credentials changed. You changed your broker password or rotated an API key.
  • Broker-side revocation. You removed the connection from your broker's app management screen.
  • MFA change. You enabled or disabled 2FA on your broker account.

How to reconnect

  1. On the affected row, open the action menu and pick Reconnect. The action only appears when the connection is in Reconnect Needed or Error state.
  2. You're taken through SnapTrade's reconnect flow, which keeps your existing authorization on the OptionsPro side.
  3. After approving at your broker, you're returned to OptionsPro. Once SnapTrade reports the connection as fixed, the badge flips back to Active and a sync runs.

Because reconnect is keyed on the existing authorization, your previously imported trades, accounts, and positions are preserved - they aren't deleted or re-imported from scratch. A routine sync after reconnecting covers a rolling 90-day window, so any trades placed during a short gap are picked up automatically. If the connection was broken for longer than 90 days, trades older than that window won't be back-filled by a reconnect; in that case you can disconnect and re-link instead, which triggers a fresh connection and always pulls the broker's full available history (see Disconnecting, which deletes everything tied to the broker first).
