Connecting a Brokerage

First-time setup of a brokerage connection via SnapTrade.

Connecting a brokerage takes about a minute and is a one-time step per broker.

Steps

  1. From Brokerages, click Link Brokerage.
  2. The Select Brokerage modal opens with a button per supported broker.
  3. Click your broker. The browser navigates to SnapTrade's connection portal, which then forwards you to your broker's authentication page.
  4. Sign in with your broker credentials and approve the read-only connection. Some brokers prompt for a secondary passphrase or 2FA code here.
  5. SnapTrade redirects you to OptionsPro's callback page, which finalizes the connection and then forwards you to Brokerages with the new connection listed.

Supported brokers

OptionsPro supports the following brokers via SnapTrade. The History column is how far back that integration can pull transaction history on the first sync - the same value shown next to each broker in the Select Brokerage modal. "Account open" means full history back to when the account was opened.

If yours isn't listed, you can still track trades via Manual Trade Entry or the Trade Import wizard.

Interactive Brokers

SnapTrade's Interactive Brokers integration is Flex-based, which makes it slower to come online than every other broker on the list: after you approve the connection it can take 1 to 2 business days before SnapTrade has any trade data to hand over. Everything else about the connection works the same way once data starts flowing.

What that looks like in OptionsPro:

  • The post-link toast says Interactive Brokers can take 1 to 2 business days, rather than the usual "a few minutes" wording.
  • The connection lists as normal on Brokerages and keeps showing its initial-sync spinner while it waits.
  • OptionsPro keeps re-checking in the background for up to 7 days, so you can close the app and come back.
  • Refresh Data cannot speed this up - it only re-reads what SnapTrade already holds, which for a still-connecting IBKR account is nothing yet.

What happens next

  • The connection appears in the Brokerages table with an Active status badge. A spinner shows in the row's actions column while the initial sync runs.
  • The first trade import is triggered by SnapTrade once it finishes pulling transaction history from your broker. This can take anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes depending on the broker and account history.
  • Interactive Brokers is the exception: it can take 1 to 2 business days to fully connect before any trade data arrives. That's normal for this broker, not a failed connection - see Interactive Brokers above.
  • As trade data arrives, positions materialize and the Dashboard populates.
  • Mark prices and Greeks refresh on a timer during market hours.

Troubleshooting

I approved the connection but it doesn't appear. Refresh the Brokerages page. The callback handler is idempotent and detects existing authorizations, so refreshing or re-running the callback will not produce duplicate connections.

The connection shows but no trades have appeared. Trade import is triggered by a webhook from SnapTrade once it finishes pulling transaction history from your broker. Larger histories can take several minutes. If trades still haven't appeared after that, use Refresh Data in the row's actions menu to force a sync.

On Interactive Brokers, allow 1 to 2 business days before treating an empty connection as a problem. Refresh Data cannot speed this up - it only re-reads what SnapTrade already has, and for a still-connecting IBKR account that is nothing yet. OptionsPro re-checks automatically and imports your trades as soon as the data lands.

My broker is listed but authentication fails. Double-check whether your broker requires a separate API passphrase (some do). SnapTrade's broker-specific setup instructions cover the per-broker quirks.

The connection status shows "Reconnect Needed" or "Error". Brokers periodically expire authorizations (especially after password changes or MFA resets). Open the row's actions menu and click Reconnect to walk back through the broker's authentication flow without losing existing trades.
